Depending on your computer model, your computer comes with one of the following combinations: • ThinkStation P500: One standard PCI card slot, one PCI Express x1 card slot, two PCI Express x4 card slots, and two PCI Express x16 graphics card slots • ThinkStation P700: One standard PCI card slot, one PCI Express x4 card slot, one PCI Express x8 card slot, and three PCI Express x16 graphics card slots Install PCI Express cards in the following order as illustrated: • For ThinkStation P500: Figure 73. PCI Express card installation order for ThinkStation P500 • For ThinkStation P700: Note: If your computer has only one microprocessor installed, only some PCI Express card slots are usable. Figure 74. PCI Express card installation order for ThinkStation P700 If your computer comes with a full-length PCI card, refer to "Installing or replacing a full-length PCI card" on page 117 for its replacement instructions. To install or replace a PCI card, do the following: 1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer.
