Chapter 2 Connection Wizard The following table describes the labels in this screen. Table 5 Internet Connection Type: PPPoE LABEL DESCRIPTION Internet Connection Type Select the PPPoE option for a dial-up connection. User Name Type the user name given to you by your ISP. Password Type the password associated with the user name above. Exit Click this to close the wizard screen without saving. Back Click this to return to the previous screen. Next Click this to continue. 2.3.4 Connection Type: PPTP Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) is a network protocol that enables transfers of data from a remote client to a private server, creating a Virtual Private Network (VPN) using TCP/IP-based networks. PPTP supports on-demand, multi-protocol, and virtual private networking over public networks, such as the Internet. Refer to the appendix for more information on PPTP. The NBG supports one PPTP server connection at any given time. Note: This Internet connection type will be supported in the next firmware version. Figure 9 Internet Connection Type: PPTP The following table describes the fields in this screen Table 6 Internet Connection Type: PPTP LABEL DESCRIPTION Internet Connection Type Select PPTP from the drop-down list box. To configure a PPTP client, you must configure the User Name and Password fields for a PPP connection and the PPTP parameters for a PPTP connection.
