Coin-Cell Battery CAUTION: Before performing the following procedures, follow the safety instructions in your Product Information Guide. NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching a connector on the back panel of the computer. NOTICE: To avoid damaging the system board, you must remove the main battery before you begin working inside the computer. To remove the coin-cell battery: 1 Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 127. 2 Remove the memory cover. See "Memory" on page 129. 1 2 1 coin-cell battery 2 battery compartment 3 Remove the battery from the compartment on the system board by using a small screwdriver to lift one side of the battery at the notch in the plastic connector, being careful not to break the plastic. 4 Grasp the battery and pull out it of the battery compartment. To install the coin-cell battery: 1 Insert the edge of the coin-cell battery into the plastic battery compartment under the lip on the compartment. 2 Carefully press the coin-cell battery into the compartment, being careful not to break the plastic. 134 Adding and Replacing Parts

Coin-Cell Battery

touching a connector on the back panel of the computer.
NOTICE:
To avoid damaging the system board, you must remove the main battery before you begin working inside
the computer.
To remove the coin-cell battery:

Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page127.

Remove the memory cover. See "Memory" on page 129.

Remove the battery from the compartment on the system board by using a small screwdriver to lift one
side of the battery at the notch in the plastic connector, being careful not to break the plastic.

Grasp the battery and pull out it of the battery compartment.
To install the coin-cell battery:

Insert the edge of the coin-cell battery into the plastic battery compartment under the lip on the
compartment.

Carefully press the coin-cell battery into the compartment, being careful not to break the plastic.
