10 Performing an unattended installation of Windows XP-32 and Windows XP-64 This chapter provides an overview of the steps to perform an unattended installation of Windows XP-32 and Windows XP-64. This chapter does not detail all steps needed to create and configure an unattended installation environment; rather, it demonstrates the essential elements that are specific to blade workstations. 10-1 Assumptions This chapter assumes you have a basic knowledge of the Microsoft Windows XP unattended installation process. The following topics are not covered in this chapter: • Unattended installation concepts • Creating and configuring source distribution files • Slipstreaming updates and patches • Boot disks • Networking • Creating unattend.txt files. This document also assumes that a distribution server is already configured, working, and contains source install files needed for the operating systems of interest, e.g. Windows XP-64. For further information on the subjects not covered in this chapter, please refer to the appropriate Microsoft documentation.
