The original document is placed on the glass or in the ADF. 2. The user enters job preferences using the control panel keys. The user presses the Start key. Job preferences are sent to the formatter. 3. Some job preferences, such as n-up, will be held and processed later by the formatter. Others are sent to the CP. 4. The CP sends control signals to the SCB. The document is scanned. 5. The SCB sends scanned image data back to the CP. 6. The CP processes the image. 7. The CP sends the image data to the formatter. 8. The formatter further processes the image data (if required). 9. The image data is then either printed or digitally sent depending on what the user specified at the beginning of the process. ENWW Basic operation 127
