Uninstall HP MediaSmart Server and Windows Home Server Connector: • Click Start, Control Panel and select Add or Remove Programs. • Select HP MediaSmart Server and click Remove. • Select Windows Home Server Connector and click Remove. 6. Attach a network cable directly between your PC and the server. • Unplug one end of the the HP MediaSmart Server Ethernet cable from your router or switch. • Plug the free end of the Ethernet cable into your computer so there is a direct connection between the server and the computer. 7. Prepare the server for recovery or reset: • On the back of the server, hold down the Power button for at least 4 seconds to force the server to shut down. • On the back of the server, press the Power button to restart. • When the Health indicator is blinking violet and red, press and release the recessed mode button on the front of the server using a paper clip. The Health light should start blinking violet. Recovery mode is initiated. 142
