Software description The following settings are available for the Fuser control: ● Light Rough Paper. This setting changes the optimum fusing temperature to 1/2 speed for light and rough paper (such as Neenah Bond 16 lb.) This setting can help prevent paper curl and poor fixing performance for these kinds of paper. ● 4mm Transparency. This setting puts the engine in a lower temperature environment, which is appropriate when PQ defects are observed with 4mil OhT. ● Less Fusing/More Fusing (- 1, +1). These settings allow the user to adjust the fuser temperature up or down one level. Use this setting to find the best balance for the print job when other adjustments are insufficient. ● Transfer. The transfer bias voltage control in the engine is a complex algorithm that is based on the print mode, toner cartridge, and humidity. An "increase" or "decrease" in transfer bias means that the transfer control algorithm increases or decreases the transfer bias by some amount, which depends on media type and other factors. The following settings are available for the Transfer control. The following settings are available for the Transfer control. ● Humid Transparency. This setting is appropriate for printers that are in an environment with high humidity. It sets OhT as Print mode and also shows PQ failure. ● Humid Tough Paper. This setting is appropriate for printers that are in an environment with high humidity. It sets Glossy Film as Print mode and it also shows PQ failure. ● High Resistivity. This setting is appropriate for printers that are in an environment with low humidity. It shows PQ defects with high resistive paper. ● Less/More transfer ( -1, +1). These settings provide one level of decreased transfer bias voltage and one level of increased transfer bias voltage if the other adjustments are insufficient. Try adjusting these settings to find the best balance for the print job. In extreme case (very dry or very wet), low transfer current defects and high transfer current defects can overlap; that is, a defect-free setting might be impossible. These adjustments can help find the best operating point. ● Duplex Transfer. Paper becomes much drier and develops a higher resistivity after it has printed on the first side and has passed through the fuser. The changes to the paper can result in transfer defects on the second side of the paper. To help prevent this situation, the printer engine uses different transfer bias settings for printing on the second side of the paper. The following settings are available for the Duplex Transfer control. ● Humid Tough Paper. This setting is appropriate when the printer is in an environment with high humidity. It sets Glossy Film as Print mode and it also shows PQ failure. ● High Resistivity. This setting is appropriate for printers that are in an environment with low humidity.
