TONE SQUELCH AND POCKET BEEP 11 ■ Tone scan By monitoring a signal that is being operated with pocket beep, tone or DTCS squelch function, you can determine the tone frequency or DTCS code necessary to open squelch. qPush [F• ] to display the function guide. w Push [MENU](V/MHz•SCAN) (Right band's) to enter MENU screen. e Rotate [DIAL] to select "DUP/TONE..." then push [MAIN•BAND]. r Rotate [DIAL] to select either "REPEATER TONE," "CTCSS TONE" or "DTCS CODE" to be scanned. tPush [SCAN](TONE•DTMF) to start tone scan. • To change the scanning direction, rotate [DIAL]. [SCAN] During Repeater tone scan During CTCSS frequency scan During DTCS code scan yWhen the CTCSS tone frequency or 3-digit DTCS code is 1 matched, the squelch opens and the tone frequency is temporarily programmed into the selected feature, such as 2 memory or call channel. • The tone scan pauses when a CTCSS tone frequency or 3-digit 3 DTCS code is detected. 4 • The decoded CTCSS tone frequency or 3-digit DTCS code is used for the tone encoder or tone encoder/decoder, depending 5 on the selected tone condition or type in step r. - "REPEATER TONE" : Tone encoder for repeater operation 6 - "CTCSS TONE" : CTCSS tone encoder/decoder 7 - "DTCS" : DTCS tone encoder/decoder u Push [V/MHz•SCAN] to stop the scan. 8 z Set the frequency or memory channel to be 9 T-SCAN checked for a tone frequency. 10 x Selects the tone type to be scanned. • Push [FUNC] then push; [SIMP 9(TSQL)] for tone 11 squelch; [HIGH 4(DTCS)] for DTCS squelch. c Push [FUNC] then [SCAN 2(T-SCAN)] to start 12 the tone scan. 13 v When the tone frequency is matched, the squelch opens and the tone frequency is pro- 14 grammed into the selected mode, such as 15 memory or call channel. b Push [CLR A(MW)] to stop the scan. 16 NOTE: The decoded tone frequency is programmed tem- 17 porarily when a memory or call channel is selected. How- 18 ever, this will be cleared when the memory/call channel is re-selected. 19 90
