Follow these steps to replace a defective cooling fan in the two-fan assembly for the system board. NOTE: You can perform the following procedure with the system turned on or off. 1. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the Computer Cover" found earlier in this chapter. 2. Identify the defective cooling fan in the assembly. Before removing the fan, note the direction of the airflow. 3. Disconnect the cooling fan's power cable from the FAN1 or FAN2 connector on the system board. 4.
