(Normally 8080 or 8088) The next thing to do is to create a remote connection (in Remote Networking). This remote connection provides basic information for Windows CE and your modem. To set up a Remote Networking Connection 1. Switch your unit off and attach the AC adapter. 2. Insert your PC-Card modem. 3. Switch the unit on. 4. Tap Start, then Programs. 5. Double tap the communications folder, then Remote Networking. 6. Double tap Make New Connection. 7. Type a name for the connection (i.e. Name of ISP). 8. Select Dial-Up connection. 9. Tap Next 10. Select a modem. Your modem supplier should be listed on the drop-down menu next to the modem box. If it is not, cancel the operation, remove, reinsert the modem card and try again. 11. Unless there are advanced settings that need to be configured for your ISP or your ISP requires you to manually enter your user name and password then you will normally not need to configure the modem further. If your ISP does require you to enter your username and password manually then tap configure and tap the box marked "Use terminal window after dialing". 12. Enter the area code if any (without a zero if you do not enter it when dialing internationally), local number and country code. If you always want the country code and area code to be dialed (e.g. using a GSM mobile phone with a roaming service) then check the use country code and area code box. 13. Tap the TCP/IP Settings box. 14. IP addresses identify computers on the Internet. They consist of four numbers in the range 0-255 separated by full stops (e.g. 15.123.112.31).
