● There is a process to guide you when printing a substrate on both sides. ● Double-sided printing can be used to print the same image or different images on each side. ● The process automatically compensates for any registration errors, of the position of the plot, along both axes (along the substrate width + substrate advance) to minimize any errors. ● The dual-roll spindle cannot be used when printing double-sided. ● The images of Side A and Side B must have the same dimensions. The image that you select for each side must be the same image for the entire side. Create a job Any image created in the RIP can be printed on either side A or side B, without any special requirements. However, side A and side B must have the same dimensions when printed on the substrate. NOTE: In order to minimize registration errors on some substrates, you are recommended to compensate for substrate contraction in the RIP when the image is generated. Define double-sided job The following steps provide the complete procedure for this topic. 1. Open the Job Properties window of any job. 2. Enable the double-sided view, to show both sides in the preview area on the right. 3. You can replace one of the sides with another image from the Inbox, or leave the job as it is, with both sides showing the same image. 4. After selecting one of the sides in the preview, you can assign the appropriate substrate and print mode to it, which may or may not differ from the those assigned to the other side, depending on physical substrate properties. You can also use the Check both images button to compare the images of the two sides at 50% transparency. NOTE: Any change that affects the placement of the image on side A (such as adding margins) will automatically be applied on side B, to maintain correct registration. 5. Once the double-sided job has been composed, save the file. A new cluster will be created to hold the jobs that belong to more than one type of substrate. Print Follow these steps to print a double-sided job. 1. Drag the job to the queue. 2. Two parallel queues are created instead of one: one for side A and one for side B. 3. Tap Print on the one you want to be printed. Bear in mind that, if you decide to print side B, the printer will look for the registration lines previously printed on side A. The printed side A must already be loaded correctly so that the registration line can be found. 80 Chapter 7 Create and manage print jobs

There is a process to guide you when printing a substrate on both sides.
Double-sided printing can be used to print the same image or different images on each side.
The process automatically compensates for any registration errors, of the position of the plot, along both
axes (along the substrate width + substrate advance) to minimize any errors.
The dual-roll spindle cannot be used when printing double-sided.
The images of Side A and Side B must have the same dimensions. The image that you select for each side
must be the same image for the entire side.
Create a job
Any image created in the RIP can be printed on either side A or side B, without any special requirements.
However, side A and side B must have the same dimensions when printed on the substrate.
NOTE:
In order to minimize registration errors on some substrates, you are recommended to compensate for
substrate contraction in the RIP when the image is generated.
Define double-sided job
The following steps provide the complete procedure for this topic.
1.
Open the
Job Properties
window of any job.
2.
Enable the double-sided view, to show both sides in the preview area on the right.
3.
You can replace one of the sides with another image from the Inbox, or leave the job as it is, with both sides
showing the same image.
4.
After selecting one of the sides in the preview, you can assign the appropriate substrate and print mode to
it, which may or may not differ from the those assigned to the other side, depending on physical substrate
properties.
You can also use the
Check both images
button to compare the images of the two sides at 50%
transparency.
NOTE:
Any change that affects the placement of the image on side A (such as adding margins) will
automatically be applied on side B, to maintain correct registration.
5.
Once the double-sided job has been composed, save the file. A new cluster will be created to hold the jobs
that belong to more than one type of substrate.
Print
Follow these steps to print a double-sided job.
1.
Drag the job to the queue.
2.
Two parallel queues are created instead of one: one for side A and one for side B.
3.
Tap
Print
on the one you want to be printed.
Bear in mind that, if you decide to print side B, the printer will look for the registration lines previously
printed on side A. The printed side A must already be loaded correctly so that the registration line can be
found.
