How to work with ink system components, Distilled water tank, Drop-detector spittoon foam - datasheet

Page 93 highlights

You should empty the waste bottle whenever the printhead cleaning roll is replaced. IMPORTANT: You should also empty the waste bottle when all or most of the printheads are changed, because purging them could fill more than half of the waste bottle. IMPORTANT: Dispose of this mixture according to local regulations. You can find the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the ink at the HP website: http://www.hp.com/go/msds/. Distilled water tank The distilled water tank has a capacity of 9 liters and should be filled with distilled water whenever the printhead cleaning roll is replaced, or when prompted by the printer. CAUTION: Fill the tank with distilled water only. Any other kind of water may cause the printer to malfunction. IMPORTANT: You may not be able to print if the distilled water level is too low. IMPORTANT: When the printer has signaled that the water tank is empty, you should be able to put at least 5 liters of water into it. If not, clean the water-tank filter (a maintenance operation). Drop-detector spittoon foam The printer can check the firing capacity of each single nozzle. Doing so causes ink to accumulate on the rectangular piece of foam located on the drop-detector area. This foam needs to be changed every time the cleaning roll is replaced. The foam is provided with the printhead cleaning kit. Condensation collector bottle The printer has a system that collects most of the vapor generated while drying and curing the ink and condenses it in a bottle located at the left side of the printer. You should check the bottle every time you replace the printhead cleaning roll, and empty it when necessary. Consult your local authorities to determine the correct manner in which to dispose of wastes. The waste-profile datasheet contains the required information for an adequate disposal. You can find the datasheet at the HP Latex Knowledge Center: https://hplatexknowledgecenter.com/applications/wasteprofiles/. CAUTION: Make sure the bottle is pushed all the way into its support, to avoid condensation leaks. CAUTION: Make sure condensation tubes are pointing to the condensation bottle funnel, to avoid condensation leaks. How to work with ink system components In the short term, the ink system works without human intervention. However, you will need to intervene occasionally to keep it running in the long term. Ink cartridges The following sections provide details for this topic. Remove an ink cartridge An ink cartridge should be removed and replaced when it is empty or past its expiry date. 86 Chapter 8 Handle the ink system

You should empty the waste bottle whenever the printhead cleaning roll is replaced.
IMPORTANT:
You should also empty the waste bottle when all or most of the printheads are changed, because
purging them could fill more than half of the waste bottle.

Dispose of this mixture according to local regulations. You can find the Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

Distilled water tank
The distilled water tank has a capacity of 9 liters and should be filled with distilled water whenever the printhead
cleaning roll is replaced, or when prompted by the printer.
CAUTION:
Fill the tank with distilled water only. Any other kind of water may cause the printer to malfunction.
IMPORTANT:
You may not be able to print if the distilled water level is too low.
IMPORTANT:
When the printer has signaled that the water tank is empty, you should be able to put at least 5
liters of water into it. If not, clean the water-tank filter (a maintenance operation).
Drop-detector spittoon foam
The printer can check the firing capacity of each single nozzle. Doing so causes ink to accumulate on the
rectangular piece of foam located on the drop-detector area. This foam needs to be changed every time the
cleaning roll is replaced. The foam is provided with the printhead cleaning kit.
Condensation collector bottle
The printer has a system that collects most of the vapor generated while drying and curing the ink and
condenses it in a bottle located at the left side of the printer.
You should check the bottle every time you replace the printhead cleaning roll, and empty it when necessary.
Consult your local authorities to determine the correct manner in which to dispose of wastes.
The waste-profile datasheet contains the required information for an adequate disposal. You can find the
datasheet at the HP Latex Knowledge Center:

.
CAUTION:
Make sure the bottle is pushed all the way into its support, to avoid condensation leaks.
CAUTION:
Make sure condensation tubes are pointing to the condensation bottle funnel, to avoid
condensation leaks.
