Chapter 11 Tools Note: The device IP address varies according to whether the device is connected to the EMS computer using an in-band or an out-of-band IP address. 11.3 Trace Route You can use the Trace Route screen to send traceroute packets from the EMS to a specified IP address and use the response to determine the path a packet takes to that IP address. Click Tools > Trace Route to display the screen below. Figure 100 Tools > Trace Route The following table describes the labels in this screen. Table 70 Tools > Trace Route LABEL DESCRIPTION IP Address Enter an IP address which you wish to perform a trace route on. Max Hop Count Specify the maximum number of hops (intermediary devices) you want to trace. Enter a number between 1 and 255. Number of Probes Type the number of probe packets to send at the same time. Time Out (secs) Specify the time in seconds the EMS is to wait for a reply before declaring this a failed traceroute test. Apply Click Apply to begin the trace route. Close Click Close to exit this screen. NetAtlas EPON Manager User's Guide 147
