Chapter 5 Device Network Settings Table 25 Device Configuration > WAN > 3G(WAN2) (continued) LABEL DESCRIPTION Authentication Type The selected device supports PAP (Password Authentication Protocol) and CHAP (Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol). CHAP is more secure than PAP; however, PAP is readily available on more platforms. Use the drop-down list box to select an authentication protocol for outgoing calls. Options are: CHAP/PAP - The selected device accepts either CHAP or PAP when requested by the ISP. CHAP - The selected device accepts CHAP only. PAP - The selected device accepts PAP only. User Name Password Retype to Confirm PIN Code None - The selected device does not send your user name and password for authentication. The user name and password fields are grayed out. Select this option if your ISP did not give you a user name and password. Type the user name (of up to 31 ASCII printable characters) given to you by your service provider. Type the password (of up to 31 ASCII printable characters) associated with the user name above. Type your password again to make sure that you have entered is correctly. A PIN (Personal Identification Number) code is a key to a 3G card. Without the PIN code, you cannot use the 3G card. Enter the PIN code (four to eight digits, 0000 for example) provided by your ISP. If you enter the PIN code incorrectly, the 3G card may be blocked by your ISP and you cannot use the account to access the Internet. If your ISP disabled PIN code authentication, enter an arbitrary number. Phone Number This field is available only when you insert a GSM 3G card. Enter the phone number (dial string) used to dial up a connection to your service provider's base station. Your ISP should provide the dial string. By default, *99# is the dial string for GSM-based networks and #777 is the dial string for CDMA-based networks. Nailed-Up Select Nailed-Up if you do not want the connection to time out. Idle Timeout This specifies the time (from 0 to 9999) in seconds that elapses before the selected device automatically disconnects from the ISP. WAN IP Address Assignment Get automatically from ISP Select this option if your ISP did not assign you a fixed IP address. This is the default selection. Use Fixed IP Address Select this option if the ISP assigned a fixed IP address. My WAN IP Address Enter your WAN IP address in this field if you selected Use Fixed IP Address.
