Item Media Tension Media Suction Parameter 0 to 40 0 to 10 Head Movement Data Width Printer Full Width Tension Measurement Periodically Every Page Off Multi-Strike Printing Feed Speed Off 2 to 8 Auto Lv1 Lv2 Roll Type Restore Settings Printable Side Out Printable Side In Yes, No Explanation Increase tension if creases appear in the media during printing. The higher the value, the greater the tension. When media is waved on the platen, increase the Media Suction. The higher the value, the greater the suction. If graininess or out-of-focus characteristics are detected in printing results obtained using thin or soft media or if the media is not fed normally, reduce the Media Suction. Choose the range in which the print head moves during printing. Data Width restricts print head movement to the printed area. Restricting the extent of print head movement increases print speed. If Printer Full Width is selected, the print head will move the full width of the largest media supported by the printer. Select this option for more even print results with less variation. Choose Periodically or Every page to have the printer automatically monitor and adjust media tension during printing for optimal results, Off to disable automatic tension adjustment. Periodically is recommended in most circumstances. Selecting Every Page enhances the accuracy of the Tension Measurement for the optimal adjustment, but the printing time is longer than when Periodically is selected. The printer may however be unable to adjust tension appropriately for some media, resulting in excessive slack or other maladjustments that cause printing problems, in which case you should select Off. Note, however, that Off may result in unusually large margin between pages. In addition, printing may not stop and the inside of the printer may become stained. Observe the following precautions: Do not print at the end of a roll Do not select Off for Media End Check. Choose the number of times each line is printed. For high-density printing using backlight film, increase the frequency. Auto is recommended in normal circumstances. If this option is set to Auto, media is fed at the optimal speed depending on the number of printing passes. Select Lv1 for media that tends to stick together and for thin media that is easily creased or torn. Select Lv2 for faster printing. Note, however, that the feed speed will not change if the number of passes is large. This option is set based on the setting you selected when you loaded the media. If Yes is selected, configured media settings are returned to the default. Using the Control Panel Menu 207
