Table 4-9 Configuration Menu The items on the Configuration Menu set default parameters for two-sided printing, binding, selected output bin, printing personality, auto continue, power saving, resource saving, page protection and the display of maintenance messages when the toner supply is low or service is needed. Table 4-9 presents the messages that appear when you select each of these menu items. Configuration Menu Menu Item Explanation SERVICE MESSAGE= [ON,OFF] Appears at approximately 350,000-image intervals, when the PERFORM USER MAINTENANCE message appears. 2-SIDED= [OFF*,ON] Allows selection of duplex (two-sided) printing as the default printing mode (only appears if the optional Duplex Unit is installed.) BINDING= [LONG EDGE*, SHORT EDGE] Allows control of the binding edges of duplexed documents (only appears if the optional Duplex Unit is installed.) More information about binding options is located in Chapter 5, "Print Tasks." Allows the selection of the default output bin. More information about the output bins is located in Chapter 5. CONFIGURATION MENU When an output bin is full of paper, printing is PAPER DESTINATION= stopped and one of the following messages is [TOP OUTPUT BIN*, LEFT OUTPUT BIN, OPTIONAL OUTBIN] displayed: REMOVE PAPER FROM TOP OUTPUT BIN or REMOVE PAPER FROM OPTIONAL OUTBIN n. Empty the bin to resume printing. (Note that the Left Output Bin will not cause the bin full message to be displayed.) By selecting the Stapler (if installed) as the output bin, you can have your documents stapled. ORIENTATION= [PORTRAIT*, LANDSCAPE] Sets the default orientation of the printed page. The orientation setting in your software application overrides the control panel setting. POWER SAVE DELAY= [1 HR* 2 HRS 3 HRS OFF 15 MINUTES 30 MINUTES] Allows you to change the setting for the time interval the printer remains inactive prior to entering Power Save mode.
