3 Configuring Domain Name Service CLI - This example sets a default domain name and a domain list. However, remember that if a domain list is specified, the default domain name is not used. Command Usage • Static entries may be used for local devices connected directly to the attached network, or for commonly used resources located elsewhere on the network. • Servers or other network devices may support one or more connections via multiple IP addresses. If more than one IP address is associated with a host name in the static table or via information returned from a name server, a DNS client can try each address in succession, until it establishes a connection with the target device. Field Attributes • Host Name - Name of a host device that is mapped to one or more IP addresses. (Range: 1-64 characters) • IP Address - Internet address(es) associated with a host name. (Range: 1-8 addresses) • Alias - Displays the host names that are mapped to the same address(es) as a previously configured entry. 3-183
