4 System Management Commands Time Commands The system clock can be dynamically set by polling a set of specified time servers (NTP or SNTP). Maintaining an accurate time on the switch enables the system log to record meaningful dates and times for event entries. If the clock is not set, the switch will only record the time from the factory default set at the last bootup. Use the no form to disable SNTP client requests. Syntax [no] sntp client Default Setting Disabled Command Mode Global Configuration Command Usage • The time acquired from time servers is used to record accurate dates and times for log events. Without SNTP, the switch only records the time starting from the factory default set at the last bootup (i.e., 00:00:00, Jan. 1, 2001). • This command enables client time requests to time servers specified via the sntp servers command. It issues time synchronization requests based on the interval set via the sntp poll command. 4-53
