A single network-wide VLAN can be used to transmit multicast traffic (such as television channels) across a service provider's network. Any multicast traffic entering an MVR VLAN is sent to all subscribers. This can significantly reduce to processing overhead required to dynamically monitor and establish the distribution tree for a normal multicast VLAN. Also note that MVR maintains the user isolation and data security provided by VLAN segregation by passing only multicast traffic into other VLANs to which the subscribers belong. Command mvr mvr show mvr Table 4-72 Multicast VLAN Registration Commands Function Mode Globally enables MVR, statically configures MVR group GC address(es), or specifies the MVR VLAN identifier Configures an interface as an MVR receiver or source port, IC enables immediate leave capability, or configures an interface as a static member of the MVR VLAN Shows information about the global MVR configuration PE settings, the interfaces attached to the MVR VLAN, or the multicast groups assigned to the MVR VLAN Page 4-218 4-219 4-221 4-217
