Dialing Emergency Numbers When you call an Emergency Number, such as 911, do not disconnect the call or make other calls until advised to do so by the emergency operator. This enables emergency operators to more easily dispatch aid, such as police, fire fighting, and emergency medical personnel. 1. Navigate to a Home screen panel, then touch Phone. 2. Enter 911 using the touch keypad. 3. Touch to place the call. Note: The emergency number 911 is preset into your phone, and you can dial 911 at almost any time, even when the phone is locked, restricted, or in Airplane Mode. You can specify other numbers than 911 as emergency numbers using the Emergency # settings. (For more information, refer to "Emergency Number" on page 130.) When you call 911, an audible tone plays and an Emergency prompt appears in the display for the duration of the call. (For more information, refer to "Emergency tone" on page 133.) Caution!: DO NOT depend on this phone as a primary method of calling 911 or for any other essential or emergency communications. Because of transmission methods, network parameters, and user settings necessary to complete a call from your wireless phone, a connection cannot always be guaranteed. Therefore, emergency calling may not be available on all wireless networks at all times. Making Calls using Speed Dials Speed Dials are 1-, 2-, or 3-digit shortcuts (1 to 100) you assign to contacts, to allow you to quickly call the contact. (For more information, refer to "Speed Dials" on page 56.) 1. Navigate to a Home screen panel, then touch Phone. 2. Touch the digits of the speed dial number on the Dialer keypad, holding the last digit until the number dials. Making Calls from Contacts A contact is an entry that you have created to store the name, numbers, and other information for people or groups of interest. (For more information, refer to "Contacts" on page 49.) 1. Navigate to a Home screen panel, then touch Contacts. 2. Find the contact and touch it to open the Contact entry. 3. Touch to dial the default number for the Contact. Making Calls using Voice Talk Place a call by speaking the name or number. (For more information, refer to "Voice Talk" on page 117.) 1. Dialing Emergency Numbers
