Field-Replaceable Units in a J-EX8208 Switch Field-replaceable units (FRUs) are switch components that you can replace at your site. The switch uses these types of FRUs: • Hot-insertable and hot-removable-You can remove and replace these components without powering off the switch or disrupting the switching function. • Hot-pluggable-You can remove and replace these components without powering off the switch, but the switching function is interrupted until you replace the component. Table 12 on page 21 lists the FRUs for the J-EX8208 switch and their types. Table 12: FRUs in a J-EX8208 Switch FRU Type Power supplies Fan tray Hot-insertable and hot-removable. Hot-insertable and hot-removable. Switch Fabric and Routing Engine (SRE) module Redundant configuration: • Master SRE module is hot-pluggable. • Backup SRE module is hot-insertable and hot-removable. Switch Fabric (SF) module Redundant configuration: • SF module is hot-insertable and hot-removable. 8-port SFP+ line card 48-port SFP line card 48-port RJ-45 line card Hot-insertable and hot-removable. We recommend that you take the line cards offline before removing them. See "Removing a Line Card from a J-EX8200 Switch" on page 170. SFP and SFP+ transceivers Hot-insertable and hot-removable. NOTE: Line cards are not part of the redundant configuration. You must order them separately.
