They are field-replaceable units (FRUs) that can be installed in the line card slots on the front of the switch chassis. The line cards are hot-insertable and hot-removable: You can remove and replace them without powering off the switch or disrupting switch functions. J-EX8200 switches use the following types of line cards: • 8-port SFP+ line card • 48-port SFP line card • 48-port RJ-45 line card You can use any combination of line cards in a J-EX8200 switch. The 48-port RJ-45 line card for J-EX8200 switches (see Figure 14 on page 30) has 48 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet ports with RJ-45 connectors on the faceplate. Each port has two LEDs.
