59 Scripting Illustrator show a dialog asking if the data on the clipboard should be saved for other applications. Note that if the clipboard contains data at the time of quitting, Illustrator may show a dialog prompting the user to save the data on the clipboard for other applications. This is called user interaction, and is useful and expected when you are directly interacting with the application. On the other hand, when a script is interacting with an application, an unexpected dialog will bring the execution of the script to a halt until the dialog is dismissed. This can be a serious problem in an automation environment where there is typically no one present to deal with dialogs.
