Select an embroidery frame. a From the sizes of embroidery frames indicated in the screen, select the embroidery frame that you wish to use. Embroidery frames that can be used appear lighter ( ) embroidery frames that cannot be used appear darker ( ). Memo • If the embroidery frame holder is not attached to the machine, the embroidering area will not display the correct frame size. (page 64) ■ Embroidery frame types There are four sizes of embroidery frames included with this machine, which are used with the included embroidery frame holder A. For details on the uses for each frame, refer to "Correctly using the embroidery frames" on page 65. Icon Name Embroidery area Extra-large embroidery frame 360 mm (W) × 200 mm (H) (14 inches (W) × 7-7/8 inches (H)) Extra-large embroidery frame (optional) 300 mm (W) × 200 mm (H) (11-3/4 inches (W) × 7-7/8 inches (H)) Large embroidery frame 180 mm (W) × 130 mm (H) (7-1/8 inches (W) × 5-1/8 inches (H)) Medium embroidery frame 100 mm (W) × 100 mm (H) (4 inches (W) × 4 inches (H)) Small embroidery frame 60 mm (W) × 40 mm (H) (2-3/8 inches (W) × 1-1/2 inches (H)) If you use any of the optional embroidery frames, the following icons appear in the screen. : Embroidery frame holder B : Embroidery frame holder C : Embroidery frame holder D : Embroidery frame holder E : Cap frame : Cylinder frame : Magnetic sash frame CAUTION • Use the four included frames or recommended optional frames. • If the size of the embroidery frame is wrong, the embroidery frame may hit the presser foot and damage the machine, or cause injury to the user. (For details on embroidery frames, refer to page 66.) Note • The embroidery frame indicators show all embroidery frame sizes in which the embroidery pattern can be embroidered. Be sure to use an embroidery frame of the most suitable size. If the embroidery frame that is too large is used, the pattern may be misaligned or the fabric may pucker. (page 65) ■ Hooping the fabric in the embroidery frame Loosen the screw on the outer frame. a c a b cc 1 Small or medium embroidery frame 2 Extra-large, extra-large (optional) or large embroidery frame 3 Screw Place the stabilizer and fabric with right side up on top b of the outer frame. • The outer frame does not have a front or back side. Either side can be used as the front. Press the inner frame into the outer frame. c • Be sure that there are no wrinkles in the fabric after it is hooped in the embroidery frame. 62
