- BPDU Handling - Select how Bridge Protocol Data Unit (BPDU) packets are managed when STP is disabled on the port/device. BPDUs are used to transmit spanning tree information. The possible options are: • Filtering - Filter BPDU packets when spanning tree is disabled on an interface. • Flooding - Flood BPDU packets when spanning tree is disabled on an interface. - Path Cost Default Values - Select the method used to assign default path costs to STP ports. The possible options are: • Short - Specifies 1 through 65,535 range for port path costs. • Long - Specifies 1 through 200,000,000 range for port path costs. The default path costs assigned to an interface vary according to the selected method: Interface LAG 1000 Mbps 100 Mbps 10 Mbps Long Cost 20,000 20,000 200,000 2,000,000 Short Cost 4 4 19 100 Bridge Settings - Priority (0-61440 in steps of 4096) - Enter the bridge priority value. When switches or bridges are running STP, each is assigned a priority. After exchanging BPDUs, the device with the lowest priority value becomes the Root Bridge. The default value is 32768. The port priority value is provided in increments of 4096. For example, 4096, 8192, 12288, etc. - Hello Time (1-10) - Check to use the device Hello Time, which is the interval of time in seconds that a root bridge waits between configuration messages. Enter a value. - Max Age (6-40) - Check to use device Maximum Age Time, which is the time interval in seconds that a bridge waits before sending configuration messages. Enter a value. 432 Dell PowerConnect 55xx Systems User Guide
