Chapter 2 Messages and Recovery Procedures OSPF Messages Error Message %OSM_MULTILINK-5-CFGERROR: Cannot set up this bundle link-- [chars] to bundle [chars] reason:[chars] Explanation The system could not set up the bundle link. A resource limit has been reached. The bundle may be forced to become inactive. If the module is a CT3 module (OSM-CT3 module), then ports 1 through 12 belong to one group. If the module is a CHOC-3 module (OSM-CHOC-DS0 module), then ports 1 through 4 belong to one group. If the module is a CHOC-12 module (OSM-CHOC-DS0 module), then port 1 belongs to one group, and port 2 belongs to the second group. Only 168 bundles can be supported per group, and each bundle can have a maximum of 12 links. Recommended Action Ensure that all links belong to the same group and slot. Determine the number of links in the bundle and the number of bundles in the group. After the configuration has been corrected, enter the shutdown and no shutdown commands on the multilink interface to shut down, and restart the interface. OSPF Messages This section contains Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) messages. OSPF-4 Error Message %OSPF-4-FLOOD_WAR: Process [dec] [chars] LSA ID [IP_address] type-[dec] adv-rtr [IP_address] in area [chars] Explanation The system is re-originating or flushing the link-state advertisement (LSA) reported by this error message. Recommended Action If this router is flushing the network LSA, then the router received a network LSA whose LSA ID conflicts with the IP address of one of the router's interfaces, and the router has flushed the LSA out of the network. For OSPF to function correctly, the IP addresses of transit networks must be unique. There is a conflict between this router and the router with the OSPF router ID reported as adv-rtr in this message. If this router is reoriginating an LSA, another router is probably flushing this LSA from the network. Locate that router and resolve the conflict. Conflict for type-2 LSA may be due to duplicate LSA ID; for type-5 LSA, there may be a duplicate router-id on this router and on the routers connected to the different area. PBI_OPEN Messages This section contains programmable binary file data processing (PBI_OPEN) messages. Messages and Recovery Procedures
OSPF Messages
Error Message
%OSM_MULTILINK-5-CFGERROR: Cannot set up this bundle link-- [chars] to
bundle [chars] reason:[chars]
Explanation
The system could not set up the bundle link. A resource limit has been reached. The
bundle may be forced to become inactive. If the module is a CT3 module (OSM-CT3 module), then
ports 1 through 12 belong to one group. If the module is a CHOC-3 module (OSM-CHOC-DS0
module), then ports 1 through 4 belong to one group. If the module is a CHOC-12 module
(OSM-CHOC-DS0 module), then port 1 belongs to one group, and port 2 belongs to the second
group. Only 168 bundles can be supported per group, and each bundle can have a maximum of 12
links.
Recommended Action
Ensure that all links belong to the same group and slot. Determine the number
of links in the bundle and the number of bundles in the group. After the configuration has been
corrected, enter the
shutdown
and
no shutdown
commands on the multilink interface to shut down,
and restart the interface.
OSPF Messages
This section contains Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) messages.
OSPF-4
Error Message
%OSPF-4-FLOOD_WAR: Process [dec] [chars] LSA ID [IP_address]
type-[dec] adv-rtr [IP_address] in area [chars]
Explanation
The system is re-originating or flushing the link-state advertisement (LSA) reported by
this error message.
Recommended Action
If this router is flushing the network LSA, then the router received a network
LSA whose LSA ID conflicts with the IP address of one of the router’s interfaces, and the router has
flushed the LSA out of the network. For OSPF to function correctly, the IP addresses of transit
networks must be unique. There is a conflict between this router and the router with the OSPF router
ID reported as adv-rtr in this message. If this router is reoriginating an LSA, another router is
probably flushing this LSA from the network. Locate that router and resolve the conflict. Conflict
for type-2 LSA may be due to duplicate LSA ID; for type-5 LSA, there may be a duplicate router-id
on this router and on the routers connected to the different area.
PBI_OPEN Messages
