Configuration file management commands The device supports the FIPS mode that complies with NIST FIPS 140-2 requirements. Support for features, commands, and parameters might differ in FIPS mode and non-FIPS mode. For more information about FIPS mode, see Security Configuration Guide. Unless otherwise noted, devices in the configuration examples are operating in non-FIPS mode. archive configuration Use archive configuration to manually archive the running configuration to the configuration archive directory. Configuration archive facilitates configuration rollback. It provides manual and automatic methods for saving the running configuration as checkpoint references. For more information about the archiving mechanism, see the section about configuration rollback in Fundamentals Configuration Guide. To ensure system performance: • If the device configuration does not change frequently, manually archive the running configuration as needed. • If the device configuration changes frequently, configure automatic archiving with an interval longer than 1440 minutes (24 hours).
