Configuring the Write To Event Log alert action The Write To Event Log alert action creates an entry in the Windows NT/2000/ XP Event Log's Application Log. This entry is logged on the server from which the alert came. This alert action is available only on Windows NT/2000/XP computers. To configure the Write To Event Log alert action 1 In the Symantec System Center console, right-click the server group, and then click All Tasks > AMS > Configure. 2 Select the alert for which you want to configure alert actions. 3 Click Configure. 4 Click Write To Event Log, and then click Next. 5 Select a computer to execute the action, and then click Next. 6 In the Message box, type any message text that you want to display and move parameters that you want from Alert Parameters to the Message box. 7 Type an action name. The action name and the action computer name appear in the Alert Actions dialog box beside this action. 8 Click Finish. Working with configured alerts Once you have configured alert actions, you can do the following: ■ Test them to make sure they work as expected. ■ Delete them. ■ Export them to other computers.

Configuring the Write To Event Log alert action

Working with configured alerts
Once you have configured alert actions, you can do the following:
Test them to make sure they work as expected.
Delete them.
Export them to other computers.
