Firmware Download Upgrading the Firmware Using the CLI Note: The following procedure does not apply to the SAN Switch 2/32 switch. For firmware information regarding the SAN Switch 2/32 switch, refer to "Upgrading the Firmware on the SAN Switch 2/32" on page 78 Use this procedure to download and commit a new firmware version to both partitions of flash memory. To upgrade or restore the switch firmware: 1. Verify that the RSHD service (on a UNIX machine) or the FTP service (on a Windows machine) is running on the host workstation. 2. Log into the switch as the admin user. 3. Enter the following command at the command line (each item must be included in double quotes): firmwareDownload ["host", "user", "file" [, "passwd"]] where: host user file passwd A host server name or IP address; for example, "citadel" or "192.168.1.48". The configuration file or pfile is downloaded from this host system. If this operand is not used, the pfile is considered to be accessible through a local directory. This operand is required. A user name for FTP or RSHD server access; for example, "jdoe". This user name is used to gain access to the host. This operand is required. A path and file name; for example, "/pub/dist/v2.6.0". Absolute path names may be specified using forward slash (/). Relative path names create the file in the user's home directory on UNIX hosts, and in the directory where the FTP server is running on Windows hosts. This operand is required. A password. Upgrading the Firmware Using the CLI
Note:

Use this procedure to download and commit a new firmware version to both
partitions of flash memory.
To upgrade or restore the switch firmware:
