Securing Your Computer Chassis Intrusion Detection NOTE: When the administrator password is enabled, you must know the administrator password before you can reset the Chassis Intrusion setting. The Chassis Intrusion Detection feature detects when the computer chassis is or has been opened and alerts the user. The following Chassis Intrusion settings are available in System Setup: • Off - The Chassis Intrusion dectection feature is disabled. If the computer cover is opened, no action is taken. • On - The Chassis Intrusion dectection feature is enabled. If the computer cover is opened, the setting changes to Detected, and an alert message displays during the boot routine at the next computer start up. • On-Silent (default) - The Chassis Intrusion dectection feature is enabled. If the computer cover is opened, the setting changes to Detected; however, no alert message appears during the boot routine at the next computer start up. NOTE: For information on changing System Setup options see "System Setup" on page 81. Security Cable Lock NOTE: Your computer does not ship with a security cable lock. A security cable lock is a commercially available antitheft device. To use the lock, attach it to the security cable slot on your Dell computer. For more information, see the instructions included with the device. NOTICE: Before you purchase an antitheft device, ensure that it will work with the security cable slot on your computer.
