For security purposes, you can log information about failed logon attempts, how many host sessions are running and who has connected, or whether sensitive files have been accessed. Depending on your environment, you can send information about events that occurred during a session to a pcAnywhere-generated log file, the Windows Event Viewer, or a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) console. Symantec pcAnywhere supports centralized logging, so that you can archive the logs on a secure, central server. Although logging can be a useful tool, be aware that tracking some types of events, such as logging every file that is opened on the host, can degrade performance.
