1. Remove the tape drive and the cable from their static-protective package. 2. If the tape drive assembly has a space filler on top of the drive, remove it now. 3. From the inside of the server, thread the tape-drive end of the cable for your tape drive through the rear of the tape drive bay and out the front of the server. 4. Connect the cable to the back of the tape drive. 5. Push the tape drive assembly into the tape drive bay, gently pulling the cable farther into the server as you do so, until the tape drive assembly stops. 6. Push the tray handle to the closed (locked) position. 7. Connect the cable to the following system-board connectors (see ″System-board internal connectors″ on page 11 for the location of the connectors). v Signal connector: SATA tape drive signal connector J36 v Power connector: Tape drive power connector J22 The following illustration shows the routing of the SATA tape drive signal cable. Remove
the
tape
drive
and
the
cable
from
their
static-protective
package.
2.
If
the
tape
drive
assembly
has
a
space
filler
on
top
of
the
drive,
remove
it
now.
3.
From
the
inside
of
the
server,
thread
the
tape-drive
end
of
the
cable
for
your
tape
drive
through
the
rear
of
the
tape
drive
bay
and
out
the
front
of
the
server.
4.
Connect
the
cable
to
the
back
of
the
tape
drive.
5.
Push
the
tape
drive
assembly
into
the
tape
drive
bay,
gently
pulling
the
cable
farther
into
the
server
as
you
do
so,
until
the
tape
drive
assembly
stops.
6.
Push
the
tray
handle
to
the
closed
(locked)
position.
7.
Connect
the
cable
to
the
following
system-board
connectors
(see
System-board
internal
connectors
on
page
11
for
the
location
of
the
connectors).
