Removing the 3.5-inch-drive backplane To remove the 3.5-inch-drive backplane, complete the following steps. 3.5-inch hot-swap drive backplane 1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines" on page 35. 2. Turn off the server and all attached devices. 3. Disconnect all external cables and power cords. 4. Slide the server from the rack and place it on a flat, static-protective surface. 5. Pull all the hard disk drives out of the server slightly to disengage them from the backplane. 6. Remove the cover (see "Removing the cover" on page 39). 7. Remove the fan-bracket assembly (see "Removing the fan-bracket assembly" on page 66). 8. Disconnect the backplane cables. 9. Press down on the blue release latches that are on each side of the hard-disk-drive enclosure. The hard disk drive backplane pops out. 10. Lift the backplane out of the server. 11. the
server
