Parameters auto: Specifies automatic detection of the link type. force-false: Specifies the non-point-to-point link type. force-true: Specifies the point-to-point link type. Description Use stp point-to-point to configure the link type of the ports. Use undo stp point-to-point to restore the default. The default setting is auto and the spanning tree device automatically detects whether a port connects to a point-to-point link. Configured in Ethernet interface view, the setting takes effect only on the interface. Configured in Layer 2 aggregate interface view, the setting takes effect only on the aggregate interface. Configured on a member port in an aggregation group, the setting takes effect only after the port leaves the aggregation group. When connecting to a non-point-to-point link, a port is incapable of rapid state transition. You can configure the link type as point-to-point for a Layer 2 aggregate interface or a port that operates in full duplex mode. HP recommends that you use the default setting, which lets the device automatically detect the port link type. The stp point-to-point force-false or stp point-to-point force-true command configured on a port in MSTP mode is effective for all MSTIs. If the physical link to which the port connects is not a point-to-point link but you set it to be one, the configuration may bring a temporary loop. Related commands: display stp. The value of instance-id ranges from 0 to 32, where 0 represents the CIST. 116
