NOTICE: Never remove the heat sink from a processor unless you intend to remove the processor. The heat sink is necessary to maintain proper thermal conditions. 5 Press down on the ends of the heat sink release levers and pull them outward to release them from the release lever retainers. Swing the levers up to release the heat sink. Figure 3-27. NOTICE: Lay the heat sink on its side to avoid contaminating the thermal adhesive on the bottom of the heat sink. 7 Gently lift the heat sink off of the processor and set the heat sink aside. NOTICE: The processor is held in its socket under strong pressure. Be aware that the release lever can spring up suddenly if not firmly grasped. Installing System Components 115
