c Disconnect the power cables from any internal optical or tape drives, if present. See "Removing an Optical or Tape Drive." d Pull the cables up and away from the notch in the backplane board. CAUTION: The backplane signal cable can only be disconnected after the backplane has been removed. Be careful not to pull excessively on the cable when removing the backplane board. Doing so can damage the cable. 8 Remove the SAS backplane: a Pull the blue backplane release pin. See Figure 3-25. b While pulling the release pin, slide the backplane upwards. c Pull the backplane board away from the front of the system until the securing slots are free from the tabs in the chassis, and lift the board from the chassis. 9 Disconnect the backplane signal cable from the backplane.
