Planning the Server Installation WARNING: Pressing the server Power On/Standby button to power down the server removes power from most areas of the server. This process may take 30 seconds. Portions of the power supply and some internal circuitry remain active until the AC power cord is disconnected. Disconnect the power cord to remove power completely. If the server has multiple power supplies installed, unplug all power cords to completely remove power from the system. CAUTION: Protect the server from power fluctuations and temporary interruptions with a regulating UPS device. This device protects the hardware from damage caused by power surges and voltage spikes and keeps the system in operation during a power failure. CAUTION: Do not operate the server for long periods without the access panel. Operating the server without the access panel results in improper airflow and improper cooling that can lead to thermal damage. Rack Server Shipping Contents Unpack the server box and locate the materials and documentation necessary for installing the server. All of the rack-mounting hardware necessary for installing the server into a square-holed rack is included with the rack server. If you are installing the server into a rack with round holes, order the appropriate rack installation option kit, and then refer to the installation instructions that ship with the option kit for more information. NOTE: The rack installation steps in this guide work with most third-party racks with square holes. If they do not work with the rack you are using, order the option kit for racks with round holes. WARNING:
Pressing the server Power On/Standby button to power down the
