(continued) Action (continued) Infrared Adapter: If infrared communication stops or does not occur, check the following: • Communication distance: The distance between the two infrared ports should be 3 meters (10 ft.) or less. If communication does not occur between ports, move the ports closer together. • Make sure both ports are stable. Make sure the computer is on a level surface. • Make sure the angle of communication between the two infrared ports is within 15 degrees of either side of an imaginary line drawn between the two infrared ports. • Make sure there is no bright light, such as direct sunshine, interfering with communication. • Make sure no objects are placed between the two infrared ports. Parallel/USB Interface Option: Check to make sure the parallel/USB interface option card is securely connected to the printer system board. See "Parallel/USB Interface Option Card" on page 215 for more information. Network Printing Problems Problem Job did not print or incorrect characters printed. Action If you are using a Lexmark internal print server or external print server, verify that it is set up properly and the network cable is connected. Note: Refer to the documentation that comes with your print server for more information. For Novell users: • Make sure the netware.drv file is dated October 24, 1994 or later. • Make sure the NT (no tabs) flag is included in the capture statement. For Macintosh users: • The printer may need an optional internal print server to allow Macintosh connection. • Verify that the printer is set up correctly in CHOOSER. Network Printing Problems 181
