See "Viewing status on the Network Security console" on page 132. Adding to licenses You can increase the licensed bandwidth for a 7100 Series node by requesting an additive license. Adding bandwidth to a node license involves a process similar to the original license file request. You must also provide the Fulfillment ID. Understanding excessive traffic Symantec Network Security notifies you each time the network traffic rate exceeds the license. The license is for the total packets seen by all combined interfaces on your Symantec Network Security 7100 Series appliance. Licensing options are based on the amount of traffic handled by the appliance in passive mode. You should choose the bandwidth license that corresponds to the peak traffic rate on your network. If you underestimate your bandwidth, you can request an additive license. See Table 7-2, "Additive licenses," on page 92. Caution: If the excess traffic continues, the Symantec Network Security software may shut down after seven days. Adding to licenses
You can increase the licensed bandwidth for a 7100 Series node by requesting an
additive license. Adding bandwidth to a node license involves a process similar
to the original license file request. You must also provide the Fulfillment ID.
