Node Options tab fields The following fields are available on the Node Options tab when adding a 7100 Series node. All except Model and Node Number are available when editing a node. Table 8-1 provides detailed information about each field. Table 8-1 Node Options tab fields Field Model Name Customer ID IP Node Number Monitoring Group Description The appliance model number is required when adding a 7100 Series node. It can be 7120, 7160, or 7161. It is not editable on an existing node. The name you enter appears in your topology on the Devices tab. This is a required field. The Customer ID field is optional. You can use it for a descriptive label. The value is inherited by this node's monitoring interface objects, unless you edit those Customer ID fields individually. The management IP address of the node. It is used for synchronization and communication between the master and slave nodes. On a master node it is also used to connect to the Network Security console. This is a required field. If you change this field on a master node, you must reboot the node and restart the console. You don't need to do any additional configuration to the slaves in the cluster. If you change this field on a slave node, you must reboot it. No extra configuration in the master node is required. Each node has a unique number between 1 and 120. Master nodes added by the installation process are normally number 1. The node number cannot be changed, even if a slave node is later promoted to be the new master. This is a required field. The name of the monitoring group to which this node belongs. A monitoring group is all, or a subset, of the nodes in the cluster. Monitoring groups can be created by superusers or admins. The console display can be filtered to show only the incidents from selected monitoring groups. See the Symantec Network Security Administration Guide for more information.
