102 Configuring nodes and interfaces Configuring appliance nodes Configuring appliance nodes The first time you launch the Network Security console and connect to your 7100 Series appliance, you see that the topology has a Default Node 1 object. This is your master node, which is added by the installation. You can click the node object to view details about it in the right pane of the console. You can edit the node object as well. If you have another appliance, you can add it as an independent single node or as a slave node in a cluster. A slave node is synchronized with a master node within a cluster or group of Network Security nodes. A single node behaves like a master node in a cluster of one. You can edit slave and master node objects when connected to the master node with the Network Security console. Configuring appliance nodes
