To use it you must enter the correct login and password, which have default values for initial configuration. Some required information depends on whether you are adding the appliance as a master or a slave node. Both procedures are provided in the following sections: ■ Configuring a master node using the serial console ■ Configuring a slave node using the serial console Note: Truncated error messages are sent to the LCD screen if errors occur during initial configuration. Starting a serial console Before you can begin the configuration, you must connect the appliance to the serial terminal device and start the serial terminal application. To start the serial console 1 Connect one end of the serial console cable to the serial port on the back of the appliance. 2 Connect the other end of the serial console cable to the serial port on your PC, laptop, or other serial device. 3 Start a serial terminal application on your serial device. The recommended settings are: Speed Data bits Parity Stop bits Flow control 115200 8 None 1 None 4 Press Enter to get a login: prompt on the serial console. Serial console initial configuration
serial console stays on while the appliance is running. To use it you must enter

Starting a serial console
Before you can begin the configuration, you must connect the appliance to the
serial terminal device and start the serial terminal application.
To start the serial console
