Maintaining and administering the 7100 Series 141 Managing log files and backups standard procedures for backing up and restoring configuration data, using the hard drive to store the files. For more information about backup and restore, see the Symantec Network Security System Administration Guide. Backing up a configuration This section describes the standard procedure for backing up a node configuration. To back up a configuration 1 In the Network Security console, click Admin > Node > Manage Backups. 2 In Select Node, choose a node from the pull-down list. 3 Click OK. 4 In Actions, click Backup Current Configuration. 5 In Backup Name, enter a distinctive name. 6 Click OK. 7 When the progress bar closes, click Close to exit. Restoring a configuration You can restore a configuration to the same node or to a different, similar node. Symantec Network Security must be running when you restore the configuration. If you want to restore a previous configuration to an entire cluster, you must restore each node individually. Restore the slave nodes first, and then the master. Restoring the master node alone does not propagate all settings to the cluster. For the restoration procedure to succeed, the following must be true: ■ The hardware platform and operating system are the same ■ The Symantec Network Security version is the same ■ The product root directory (/usr/SNS) is the same The following conditions are recommended, but not enforced: ■ The Symantec Network Security patch level is the same ■ The Security Update and Engine Update levels are the same or greater than the backup
