When you create an enable and a user password, you must enter a minimum of eight characters containing the following combinations: • At least two upper case characters • At least two lower case characters • At least two numeric characters • At least two special characters When you create a password, the characters you type are masked. For example, to create a password for the enable login: BigIron RX(config)#enable password TesT12$! Syntax: enable password To assign a password for a user account: BigIron RX(config)#username sandy password [Enter] Enter password: ******** Syntax: username password [Enter] Press the Enter key for [Enter]. Enter a password such as TesT12$! that contains the required character combination. NOTE When you upgrade to Release 02.2.01 or later, the old passwords are still valid; however, users must change their passwords to follow the new format to take advantage of this password enhancement.
