Usage guidelines An EUI-64 IPv6 address is generated based on the specified prefix and the automatically generated interface identifier and is displayed by using the display ipv6 interface command. The prefix length of an EUI-64 IPv6 address cannot be greater than 64. Examples # Configure an EUI-64 IPv6 address for VLAN-interface 100. The prefix of the address is the same as that of 2001::1/64, and the interface ID is generated based on the MAC address of the device. Use undo ipv6 address link-local to remove the link-local address of the interface. The first group of hexadecimals in the address must be FE80 to FEBF. Usage guidelines Manual assignment takes precedence over automatic generation. If you adopt automatic generation, and then use manual assignment, the manually assigned link-local address overwrites the one that is automatically generated. If you adopt manual assignment, and then use automatic generation, the automatically generated link-local address does not take effect and the manually assigned link-local address of an interface 177
