Printing Software 2 Overview Note HP LaserJet Utility The HP LaserJet Utility allows you to control most printer features from your computer screen. You can display or customize the current control panel message. You can name the printer, assign it to a zone on your network, download files and fonts, and change most of the printer default settings using this utility. You can set the printer's password and even lock out the control panel without leaving your computer. The utility's illustrated screens make selecting printer features from your Macintosh easier than ever. Optional Software Optional Printer Drivers Available You can order the following optional printer drivers from HP Distribution or your nearest authorized HP Dealer (see the HP Support pages at the front of this manual): • OS/2 PCL/PCL XL printer driver • OS/2 PostScript printer driver (These two drivers listed above are also available from IBM and they are packaged with OS/2.) • MS Windows NT Driver If your software is not listed here, please contact your software manufacturer or distributor and request a driver for the HP LaserJet 5 printer or the HP LaserJet 5M printer. If a driver is unavailable, you could use an older HP LaserJet printer driver (such as the HP LaserJet 4 Plus printer) until a new driver becomes available, however, you may not be able to access the advanced features of your new printer without the proper driver.
