Chapter 14 Talkback / Oscillator This chapter explains how to use talkback and oscillator. About the talkback and oscillator functions Talkback is a function that sends the signal of a mic connected to the TALKBACK jack to the desired bus. This is used mainly to convey instructions from the mixing engineer to the performers or staff. If necessary, a mic connected to INPUT jacks, ST IN jacks, and OMNI IN jacks can also be used for talkback. The M7CL also contains an oscillator that can output a sine wave or pink noise to the desired bus, and this can be used to check external equipment or to test the acoustical response of the room. The diagram below shows the signal flow of the talkback/oscillator signals. +48V +48V MASTER ON +48V [TALKBACK TALKBACK 1 2 INPUT] INPUT 3 AD TALKBACK GAIN HA METER TALKBACK INPUT TB INPUT 1-32 {48} ST IN 1L-4R INPUT ON SELECT [INPUT] [1-32 {48}] INPUT 1 2 3 +48V AD GAIN/TRIM HA METER [ST IN] [1L-4R] ST IN L 1 2 3 ST IN R 1 2 3 +48V +48V AD GAIN/TRIM AD GAIN/TRIM HA METER HA METER MIX 1 2 ···1516 M O ST N O MATRIX CUE L R (C) 1 2 ··· 7 8 L R OSCILLATOR Sine Wave Pink Noise Burst Noise HPF LPF OSC LEVEL METER ON 14 M7CL-32/48 Talkback / Oscillator +48V MASTER +48V ON +48V [TALKBACK TALKBACK 1 2 AD INPUT] INPUT 3 HA METER TALKBACK INPUT TB ES IN 1-48 OMNI IN 1-8 INPUT ON TALKBACK SELECT GAIN [EtherSound] EtherSound 48 ES IN METER OMNI IN [1-8] 2 OMNI IN 1 3 +48V AD GAIN/TRIM HA METER MIX 1 2 ···1516 M O ST N O MATRIX CUE L R (C) 1 2 ··· 7 8 L R OSCILLATOR Sine Wave Pink Noise Burst Noise HPF LPF OSC LEVEL METER ON M7CL-48ES M7CL Owner's Manual 161
