Disabling the Use of an External UNIX Identity Management Database To disable the use of an external UNIX identity management database: 1 Click System ManagementAuthenticationIdentity Management Database. The Identity Management Database page is displayed. 2 Click Users are not defined in an external user database. 3 Click Save Changes to save the configuration or click Revert to restore the previous configuration settings. Configuring Active Directory The Active Directory service stores information about all objects on the computer network and makes this information available for administrators and users to find and apply. Using the active directory, users can access resources anywhere on the network with a single logon. Similarly, administrators have a single point of administration for all objects on the network which can be viewed in a hierarchical structure. The Active Directory entry allows you to configure the active directory settings and set the user authentication options. In addition you can join the active directory to the domain. Synchronizing PowerVault NX3500 With the Active Directory Server If your site uses Active Directory and the PowerVault NX3500 system is part of the Windows network, synchronize the time clock to the Active Directory server.
