Other Features of this Fax Using a Relay Station to Send Your Documents (Subaddress-based Relay Broadcast Communication) Subaddress-based Relay Broadcast Communication involves the transmission of documents to multiple, long distance destinations by transmitting the documents through a relay station, generally located between the initial transmitting station and the final destinations. This function can help you to reduce telephone costs if, for example, the documents are transmitted from the initial transmitting station to the relay station through an international connection and are then transmitted from the relay station to the multiple final destinations through a local (domestic) connection. Notes • The fax machine acting as the relay station must have a Subaddress Relay Box registered in advance. (See Registering New Subaddress Relay Boxes below.) The content of such a box can be verified by printing out a Subaddress Relay Box List. (See Printing Out a Subaddress Relay Box List on page 5-30.) • See Sending Documents as a Subaddress-based Relay Broadcast Transmission on page 5-28 for the procedure on acting as the initial transmitting station and sending documents through a relay station. Registering New Subaddress Relay Boxes Perform the following procedure to register a new Subaddress Relay Box. Note You can register up to 15 Subaddress Relay Boxes in this fax When registering the subaddress for a Subaddress Relay Box, you must use a different number than all of the box numbers used for the Encryption Boxes and all of subaddresses that have already been registered for Subaddress Confidential Boxes. If, for any reason, you lose reference to the Subaddress Communication password that you register here, you will not be able to delete that box. Therefore, you should exercise DUE CAUTION in the management of the Subaddress Communication password. Note 1 If you want to cancel the procedure part way through, press the Reset key. The operation panel will return to the initial mode settings. Open the cover plate to the left and press the Register key. 5-24
