Removing and replacing FRUs Hard disk drive cables - removing and replacing 1. Switch OFF the power to the SurePOS 500. Unplug the power cord from the external power source. 2. Tilt back the tablet. 3. Remove the front cover as described at "Front (or HDD) cover removal" on page 29. 4. If present, remove the speaker. See "Speaker - removing and replacing" on page 62. 5. Remove the HDD power connector and data cable connector from the HDD. 6. Cut any cable ties on the cables. 7. Disconnect the power cable and the data cable from the system board. 8. Remove the base plate. See "Base plate - removing and replacing" on page 57. 9. Pull the power cable free from the plastic guide in the frame. 10. To replace, reverse these procedures. Chapter 3. Switch

the
power
to
the
SurePOS
500.
Unplug
the
power
cord
from
the
external
power
source.
2.
Tilt
back
the
tablet.
3.
Remove
the
front
cover
as
described
at
“Front
(or
HDD)
cover
removal”
on
page
29.
4.
If
present,
remove
the
speaker.
See
“Speaker
–

replacing”
on
page
62.
5.
Remove
the
HDD
power
connector
and
data
cable
connector
from
the
HDD.
6.
Cut
any
cable
ties
on
the
cables.
7.
Disconnect
the
power
cable
and
the
data
cable
from
the
system
board.
8.
Remove
the
base
plate.

9.
Pull
the
power
cable
free
from
the
plastic
guide
in
the
frame.
10.
To
replace,
reverse
these
procedures.
